Doula FAQs
What does a doula actually do?
A doula offers emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. She’s a steady presence who helps you feel calm, informed, and cared for — never rushed, never judged.
Is a doula the same as a midwife?
No. A midwife provides medical care. A doula provides emotional support, comfort measures, and guidance. They work beautifully together, but their roles are different.
Will a doula make decisions for me?
Never. A doula supports your choices. She helps you understand your options, talk through your feelings, and feel confident in your decisions — but she does not speak for you or replace your voice.
Can a doula support my partner too?
Absolutely. Doulas help partners feel included, confident, and supported. Many partners say having a doula helped them stay calm and connected during birth.
