Breastfeeding can be beautiful, challenging, emotional, and everything in between — and you deserve support through all of it. Whether you’re preparing during pregnancy, navigating those early newborn days, or adjusting your feeding journey months later, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
MamaVillage brings together verified local resources, including free support options, so you can connect with real people who understand what you’re experiencing. These lactation counselors, clinics, and community programs are here to help you feel confident, cared for, and supported in whatever feeding path is right for you and your baby.

Breastfeeding Support Groups
UnityPoint West Des Moines has several breastfeeding support groups that meet weekly. Registration is not required and the support is free.
1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month, 3 to 4 p.m. at Methodist West Hospital, 1600 60th Street, West Des Moines, Conference Room 3/4, First Floor. Go in the main entrance and take the elevator to Level 1.
Thursdays, 6 to 7 p.m. at Ankeny Medical Park, 3625 N. Ankeny Blvd., Ankeny, Community Room. Enter through the urgent care doors.
2nd and 4th Fridays of every month, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, 1415 Woodland Ave., Des Moines, ERC Building, Classroom 5. Park in the ramp and take elevator to Level 1.

Mercy Hospital Downtown Des Moines offers Mommy & Me Breastfeeding Support Group where moms and babies can come and get assistance from lactation staff. It is held the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center from 1 to 2 p.m. on Level 2 of the East Tower. No registration required and services are free.

At Waukee Wellness & Chiropractic, Blessed Births & Beyond and Iowa Baby Lady, offer support for moms and babies 1 and under every first and third Friday of the month, 10 to 11 a.m. A scale is available to weigh your baby before and after feeding.
